U.S. Asian Population Growth, 2000-2010
Asians were the nation's fastest-growing race or ethnic group in 2012. More than 60 percent of this growth in the Asian population came from international migration. Chinese were the largest Asian immigrant group in the U.S. with over 3.3 million, followed by Indians (2.84 million), Filipinos (2.55 million), Vietnamese (1.5 million), Koreans (1.4 million), and Japanese (763,325). Overall, the 2010 Census said nearly 14.7 million people of Asian ancestry were living in the U.S. in 2010, a 43.2 percent increase from 2000.
